Our district is in the more
recent versions of both main street directories but here
are some tips.
- The quickest way from most
parts of Adelaide - very winding - very pretty -
30 minutes from CBD if no traffic jams.
Follow Magill Road. Leaving
the built up area ignore the Lobethal sign which
shows a left turn - there is another Lobethal sign
slightly further on which indicates straight on, so
do that - it's quicker. The road winds gently along a
valley and then after a sharp left turn climbs
steeply to Norton Summit, where- the Scenic Hotel is
on the left. The road curves to the right. Really you
just keep going for 15 minutes. It's very winding and
very pretty. You will pass Ashton Post Office on your
left, Camelot Castle on your right (after which the
road curves to the right). Finally at the top of a
wooded hill you emerge into a more cleared area of
fields and orchards - that is Forest Range - we are
at the far end. Plummers Border Valley Orchards have
a big shed on the corner - impossible to miss - and
you will see our signs by then.
- Using Greenhill Road -
longer - less winding - not bad if coming from
the southern side.
In Uraidla fork left just
before the Uraidla Hotel (which is on the right).
This road merges into the road described above just
before Camelot Castle.
Longer but less stressful
with small kids etc. Best to use the Bridgewater
exit, turn left and follow the road to the top of the
hill where you make a right turn at the T-junction.
This takes you through to Carey Gully (no real town
centre) where, at another T-junction you will see the
CFS fire station slightly to the right. Turn right
and after a very short distance turn left into
Deviation Road (signposted for Forest Range). After
about 5 minutes of fairly winding road this joins the
Adelaide - Lobethal Road at the top of Forest Range -
follow the road through Forest Range turning left at
the big shed of Plummers Border Valley Orchards.
